Oadby Town triumph in this years
Westerby Challenge Cup Final
Oadby Town 3 Friar Lane & Epworth 0
Oadby town followed up their 4-1 Rolleston Cup victory last week with an impressive 3-0 victory against Friar Lane & Epworth in the Westerby Challenge Cup held at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday.
After just 30 seconds of the match the crowd were on their feet as a raking 25 yard shot from Oadby Town rattled back off the post, however the remainder of the first half saw very few chances and goal mouth action, with the game poised at 0-0 at the half-time break.
The second half started off better and the Oadby fans waited until just after the hour mark when midfielder Lee Miveld finished off a well-worked move. This lead was doubled in the 75th minute when striker Matt Moore pounced on a defensive error in the box to coolly tap it from close range. Any doubts about the final result were put to bed in injury time by central defender Joe Latham who finished off the best move of the match to confirm Oadby’s 3-0 victory.
Oadby Town have now earned themselves the right to play Leicester City in the Westerby Cup Winners Cup Final which will be held at Holmes Park later on this year.
