Financial Adviser Support

Westerby the Pension Specialist recognises the importance of financial advisers in delivering positive outcomes for pension savers. With the majority of our business being introduced by financial advisers our service is focused on meeting the needs of our adviser introducers and their clients. Our reputation as a trusted provider supporting a broad spectrum of financial advisers, ranging from sole traders to national firms and networks has been established for over 25 years.
As the pension planning sector becomes ever more complex, it’s vital that financial advisers have the right technical and administrative support to ensure specialist pension schemes are correctly administered in line with changes in legislation, as well as the needs of their clients. Westerby offer full technical support to advisers alongside our comprehensive third-party SIPP and SSAS administration service.

To avoid any conflict of interest Westerby is not authorised to give financial advice – we work within clearly defined parameters alongside financial advisers to ensure that advisers and their clients can take full advantage of the planning opportunities available through a SIPP or SSAS.

Why choose Westerby?

Personalised service

All our financial adviser partners are allocated a dedicated consultant who is their first point of contact for new business and technical queries. When business is written each case is allocated to a named administrator and, for advisers with multiple clients, we try to keep schemes within a single administration ‘pod’ overseen by a team leader to maintain continuity.

Accessible

We do not operate a call centre approach – advisers and clients have direct access to their consultant and to the member of the administration team who looks after their scheme.

Technical Advice

We are happy to talk through and provide guidance to advisers on all aspects of SIPP and SSAS, from intial enquiry to completion of the application forms and any ongoing administrative matters or pensions technical queries.

Property expertise

With over 750 commercial properties in our existing book of business our staff have exceptional knowledge and expertise in facilitating property purchase within a SIPP or SSAS.

Our property service is flexible and we support advisers in providing solutions to complex scenarios and overcoming any issues that may arise during a purchase. Unlike some providers, we allow free choice of solicitor and surveyor at no additional cost and are flexible regarding part purchase by individuals, companies and property syndicates. We also allow companies or individuals to lend money to the scheme, as long as it is within the 50% borrowing limit, rather than borrowing from a commercial lender.

Financially stable and independent

Westerby is a financially strong business with no borrowings, independently owned and there are no plans to sell the business. We hold circa 120% of the minimum capital adequacy required by the Financial Conduct Authority in relation to our SIPP business.

A diverse offering

Our SIPP and SSAS can be tailored to accommodate a diverse range of adviser/client requirements: Our product range includes:

  • Full Service SSAS – Westerby act as professional trustee and Scheme Administrator
  • Practitioner only SSAS
  • SOLO SIPP – allows access to a single platform or DFM service
  • Full SIPP – ideal for commercial property or multi asset strategies
  • Full non standard asset SIPP – allows all asset classes permiited by legislation including nn-standard assets
  • Multi member Group SIPP – A SIPP vehicle for families or company directors who wish to combine pension assets for property purchase

Our Full SIPP has been awarded the Defaqto 5 Star rating every year since 2016.

High net worth investors

For high net worth / sophisticated investors or where full advice has been given on an investment, we allow non-standard assets such as unlisted shares / third party loans to be held within our SIPP. These types of investments are subject to full due diligence before allowing them to be held within our full SIPP or SSAS product.

Adviser Charges

Westerby facilitates payment of initial and ongoing adviser charges from the SIPP / SSAS bank account. Charges can be fixed fee of percentage based.
