Westerby The Pension Specialist are delighted to be the kit sponsor for the Thurmaston Magpies Junior
Under 11s Thunder team for the second year in a row. The team play in the Leicestershire Foxes Sunday
League against other boys’ football teams in the Leicestershire area.
As the new season gets underway this month, the team are hoping to continue to build on the success
and improvement they’ve worked hard to achieve so far in 2023.
After losing four key players to other teams, in January this year the Magpies decided to regroup and
were granted permission by the county FA to move from Level 3 to the lowest tier, Level 5. Their rebuild
had a slow start, involving several losses. However, as the season progressed, the team gained great
momentum, managing to win a fantastic eight of the final twelve games of the season, drawing two and
losing only two. Not only that, the 2023/2024 season has got off to a flying start, with the Magpies
winning their first three games 5-1, 4-1 and 6-1.
“Getting involved in our local community is important to us here at Westerby, so we’re very happy to
support the Thurmaston Magpies Junior Under 11s Thunder team by continuing to sponsor their kit,”

year and we’re looking forward to cheering them on now that the new season is up and running.”
